Graphic Library Series: Isaac Newton and the Laws of Motion

Updated: Feb 12

"As the apple fell form the tree, I wondered if the force that brought the apple to the ground could keep the moon in orbit around the Earth."

Time Period: 1600s - 1700s

Before his royally-bestowed title and before the world knew him, Sir Isaac Newton was just a boy growing up in 17th century England who loved to tinker and read. As he grew older, he never lost his curiosity for the world around him. What did cause the apple to fall? Did it affect objects in outer space? Was it some type of force? Isaac Newton and the Laws of Motion by Andrea Gianopoulos introduces readers to a scientist whose discoveries changed the scientific world forever.

This was a good introduction to the Laws of Motion (as well as to the man who discovered them!). This short comic is broken into chapters and there are a couple word bubbles in yellow to indicate that what is being said is an actual quote! My favorite resources, located at the back of the book, include "More About Isaac Newton" (fun facts) and the "Glossary" (dictionary of potentially unfamiliar terms used in the book).
