Kansas is bored - bored, bored, BORED! He complains to his friend, Nebraska, “All day long we just sit here in the middle of the country. We never GO anywhere. We never DO anything, and we NEVER meet any new states!” Then, Kansas gets an idea - What if they hosted a get-together for all 50 states? It takes a lot of hard work and planning, but the day soon arrives and it’s a smashing success! As Florida, Minnesota, Hawaii, and other states intermingle and have a grand time, someone gets an idea - What if they switched places? With comical collage illustrations and narration by Uncle Sam himself, The Scrambled States of America by Laurie Keller is a super fun picture book that introduces its readers to USA geography and other facts about each state.
In the back there is a section that displays each state’s “card” listing extra information. There is also a bonus two-page illustration that shows some of the most iconic items, places, monuments, etc. belonging to each state.
